John Clarke COVID-19 Information

In light of the current situation concerning the COVID-19 virus we are implementing the recommendations of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.  These measures include the following actions:

  • Restricting all visitors, effective immediately, with exceptions for compassionate care, such as end-of-life situations;
  • Restricting all volunteers and nonessential health care personnel and other personnel (i.e. barbers);
  • Cancelling all group activities and communal dining; and
  • Implementing active screening of residents and health care personnel for fever and respiratory symptoms.

John Clarke is Celebrating 40 Years of Caring...

We are celebrating our 40th anniversary at this location which opened in 1980. John Clarke started in 1953 on Shepard Ave in Newport led by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brown and was home to 24 independent residents. As those residents aged and required more care there was the decision to expand capacity and include nursing care as well. This property at 600 Valley Rd was purchased and constructed and opened in 1980. We have much to be thankful for and proud of over these 40 years. The past staff and current staff have developed a high-quality Nursing and Retirement Center that is very highly regarded on Aquidneck Island and in the Baptist community in Rhode Island.

If you would like to support our ongoing efforts please consider making a tax-deductible donation today.  You generosity will go towards making a meaningful difference in the lives of very deserving people.

Back to Driving and Walking

A big thanks to you and your crew for a great Thanksgiving experience; I don't know how you all do it so cheerfully year after year! You sure made it easy for Maureen Baker's family to have a stress-free 3-generation dinner. Randy and Denise took special care of us in the sunroom during the meal, then Sky did a family photo shoot afterwards. Somehow she managed to catch all of us at our best! (Please tell Pam my mom's hair looked awesome!)

Thanks again for helping us make happy memories.

A Second Chance at Life

I have nothing but happy memories about my 11 days there. I was unable to move on arrival and was walking independently with a walker at discharge. A+!

Great Thanksgiving Experience!

They are fantastic here-not one of them all of them! I am back to driving and walking and could not have done this without them. I come back all the time to visit-these are my people.
